Things to do!
Interim 1
- Site model
- Description of concept
- Drawings
Interim 2
- Site model
- Description of concept
- Drawings
- Model
- Images
- Animation
- Overall design proposal
So since this is over 2 interims I'm going to focus on laying out the groundwork for my design (a bit of site planning + data analysis) for interim 1 and more design focused on interim 2.
James Howard Kunstler - Social Critic
Love the talk on public spaces from last week's lecture!
Straight talking and cutting down the bs. Amazing stuff. All things sociology I just love!
Might inject a bit of Kunstler style into my presentation :)

Tasks for Project 3
- Take images of site (High Cross Park - Cnr of Belmore Rd and Avoca St)
- Use images in Insight3D to create a point cloud + export into GH and Rhino
- Create concept for interchange (things to consider - relocation of bus stops and pathways, pedestrian crossing and access + meeting guidelines as mentioned in table 4-1 of interchange design report)
Project 3 | For Daily Nomads | Summary of Brief
Brief |
Design a piece of architecture for people to use while they wait for, board onto and
alight from a light rail vehicle.
Scope + Project Parameters |
Example from lecture
Design a piece of architecture for people to use while they wait for, board onto and
alight from a light rail vehicle.
Scope + Project Parameters |
- The design proposal should “provide two 45-metre long side platforms between approximately 3.2m and 5.1m wide and would allow for interchange with buses
- Chosen site - High Cross Park (Cnr of Belmore Rd and Avoca St)
- The transport interchange should provide amenities (Table 4-1 of interchange guidelines)
- Designed to operate from 5am to 1am, 365 days per year
Example from lecture
Serves as |
- Interconnecting bus services from the south-eastern suburbs extending to Coogee and Maroubra.
- Provide access to the major trip generator of the Prince of Wales Hospital, as well as Randwick shopping centre and other retail uses
- The Randwick stop should be a structure and a place of high public amenity/feature and not just the end of the line
